10 Essential Steps To Selling A House

I want to share some tips and tricks on making your cabinets look great, or you can hire us to do it for you.
Before I get started with tips, let me say that having them painted is a much cheaper alternative than replacing them if your kitchen cabinets are structurally sound. New kitchen cabinets run anywhere from $12k-80k or more, and painting kitchen cabinets in Montgomery CTY is typically between $3k-8k.
With the money you are saving, you might as well add new cabinet hardware $300 – $1,000, and a backsplash at around $40 per square foot.
If you are a DIYer, give yourself about two weeks to complete all three projects. However, if you hire a professional, it can be done in about a week. Why the difference? A learning curve and the right tools.
First, using a degreaser to remove oils is the first step to prepping kitchen cabinets in Montgomery CTY. If the oils are not entirely off, the paint will eventually scratch off.
Secondly, the lacquer finish needs to be scuffed with 150-180 grit sandpaper. Again, the purpose is to scuff the surface so the primer can bond. After sanding, remove all dust with a vacuum cleaner and a tack cloth.
Thirdly, prime with a shellac-based primer. I’m not a chemist, but I have been told shellac primers fuse to the lacquer. Shellac primers do smell – a lot – but they dry in minutes which is an excellent trade-off.
After you prime, lightly sand and remove all dust with a vacuum cleaner and a tack cloth.
In the picture on the far right, the paint started to scratch after ten short months. At Klappenberger & Son, we follow best practices that eliminate these issues – guaranteed.
Finally, we get to the topcoats. I only recommend the following paints for painting kitchen cabinets in Montgomery County.
Application: The best way to apply the paint is either using a sprayer called an HVLP (high volume low pressure) or an airless sprayer. If you have little or no experience in spraying, I’d advise you not to spray. It’s better to get experience spraying something else, such as a fence where technique is not essential.
Rolling – If you do roll the cabinets, make sure you back brush immediately to knock down the texture that the roller creates.
Brushing – Whether you are brushing or rolling, please add latex conditioner to the paint. Latex conditioner will allow the paint to have a longer working time and self-level. The difference is substantial. When using a latex conditioner on any of the cabinet-grade paints listed above, it is hard to see the difference between spraying and brushing on the kitchen cabinets.
Painting kitchen cabinets in Montgomery CTY is a great way to transcend your kitchen for a fraction of the cost of replacing them.
Furthermore, adding a backsplash plus painting your kitchen cabinets can have a dramatic effect. I’ve seen it so many times, and usually, the cost is under $5,000.
In addition, with over 30 years of experience painting kitchen cabinets, we offer two things that most companies can not say.
First, your newly painted kitchen cabinets’ quality has a smoothness similar to a factory finish.
Secondly, we offer a 5-year warranty when you have your kitchen cabinets or vanities painted. No other painting contractor offers such a generous warranty. Why do we do this?
The short answer is experience and product knowledge. For example, we use the proper primers and topcoats.
The confidence in our products and process has allowed us to give 5-year warranties on kitchen cabinets against chipping and peeling.
The Klappenberger & Son Cabinet Warranty covers all labor and materials necessary to repair damaged areas to cabinets due to improper paint application or adhesion.
