What Does It Cost to Paint Kitchen Cabinets?
Painting kitchen cabinets is a fraction of the cost of replacing them. Plus, it’s faster, less interruptive to you and your family, and a whole lot cheaper than replacing with new kitchen cabinets.
Small kitchens with 25 doors and drawers start at $3,200.00. Large kitchens with 50 or more doors and drawers would cost upwards of $5,500 or higher. Here a few things that would increase the cost.
- Adding a second color
- Painting the inside of the cabinets

- Changing hardware location

Avoiding Costly Mistakes
Kitchen cabinets require proper preparation, priming, and top coating with an appropriate paint to prevent peeling.
Neglecting this critical process will result in paint peeling and leaving you with only two options.
Firstly, you could remove the paint, but this process can be incredibly time-consuming and unpleasant, taking several days of labor.
Alternatively, replacing the cabinets altogether means sacrificing your investment of time and money into painting them.
However, there’s no need for either of these unwelcome solutions. Instead, you can call on Klappenberger & Son for an easier, more straightforward solution. During our estimate, we’ll discuss trending color options for 2022 and suggest other enhancements like updated hardware or a brand new backsplash for your kitchen. This way, you can safeguard your investment and save yourself the trouble of having to remove or replace your cabinets in the future.
How Long Does It Take To Paint Kitchen Cabinets?

We don’t start a project and then reduce the crew or pull off a job. Once we start your jobs we stay there until complated.
It typically takes us three days to paint small- to moderate-size kitchens.
Our paints can be applied in two coats in just one day!
Trending 2022 & 2023 Cabinet Colors
It is common to see two or even three colors on kitchen cabinets. Applying different colors on the bottom cabinets and island is a terrific way to transform your kitchen without spending much money.
In addition to painting cabinets in multiple colors, we can also glaze or antique the cabinets.

The DIYER Tips For Great Kitchen Cabinet Painting
To have your cabinets looking like factory finish, you will need to do a few things:
First, the cabinets must be cleaned with a degreaser.
Second, sand all surfaces so the cabinets are scuffed up.
Third, wipe clean with a tack cloth.
Fourth, prime with a shellac primer.
Fifth, lightly sand with 220 or higher grit sandpaper and remove dust with tack cloths.
Sixth, apply two coats of cabinet-grade paint.
Seventh, sorry, I forgot to mention removing hardware. After the painting has dried for 24 hours, you can reinstall the hardware.
If you want your kitchen cabinets to have a factory finish, you will at least need to spray the doors and drawers.
The Right Tools
FYI – buying a DIY sprayer will not give you the same results. The cheap sprayers don’t have adequate pressure to correctly spray the paint, resulting in an orange peel effect.
If you refuse to buy a sprayer and learn how to use it (I don’t blame you), watch this fantastic video: How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets Without Spraying.
